At Vissers Chiropractic, the foundation of your treatment will be the Chiropractic adjustment. A Chiropractic adjustment is the use of a specific force in a precise direction that helps normalize spinal function. The adjustment is applied to a joint that is fixated, "locked up", or not moving properly. Adjustments help return the bones to a more normal position and/or motion, restoring the body's natural healing abilities.

Dr. Vissers utilizes two different methods of adjustments. The primary method is the manual adjustment which is accomplished using the diversified technique. This technique is a combination of various other specialized techniques and is one of the more prevalent techniques employed by most chiropractors.

The 2nd method is the use of a instrument adjustment tool, the ArthroStim. The ArthroStim is a handheld instrument that assists in correcting spinal dysfunction and abnormal spinal motionby repetitive tapping on the spinal segment. This technique is very useful for patients that have:

  1. a high level of apprehension towards manual adjusting
  2. recently been traumatized
  3. recently undergone surgery
  4. significant levels of spinal degenerative changes

Depending on your condition, Dr. Vissers may use the ArthroStim or may perform your adjustment the more traditional way.
